What Known is
Known is a passive network monitor. It watches DNS traffic on your local network and shows you what it sees. It does not block, filter, or modify any traffic. It does not act as a firewall or security appliance. It does not replace your router or any network equipment. It does not detect or prevent malware, intrusions, or cyberattacks.
What Known is not
Known is not a security product. It does not protect your network. It tells you what's happening on your network so you can make your own decisions. If you need a firewall, use a firewall. If you need antivirus, use antivirus. Known is an observability tool — it helps you see, not defend.
Warranty
Known hardware is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for 1 year from the date of purchase. During that period, Northsline will repair or replace a defective device at no cost to you. The software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Northsline does not guarantee that the software will be error-free or uninterrupted, that every DNS query will be captured, or that device identification will always be accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Northsline is not liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use Known, including loss of data, privacy breaches, security incidents on your network, business interruption, or any indirect or consequential damages. If Northsline is found liable despite this disclaimer, total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the device.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for configuring your router to use Known as its DNS server, keeping your network secure, interpreting the information Known shows you, and deciding what action to take based on that information.
